Eco-DAS IX: Ecological Dissertations
in the Aquatic Sciences

Eco-DAS IX was held on 11-16 October, 2010, at the East-West Center immediately adjacent to the University of Hawai`i, Manoa campus. Thirty-eight invited participants, mentors and representatives of federal funding agencies met for six days to present and discuss state of the art research in the ecology of aquatic ecosystems, to strengthen existing collaborations and form new partnerships, and to discuss the most challenging issues in squatic ecology today. The proceedings of the symposium appeared as a open-access, web-based book published by the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO). Eco-DAS IX was supported by the National Science Foundation (Award OCE-0812838) and the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO), and was hosted by the Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research and Education (C-MORE), the University of Hawai`i School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) and its Department of Oceanography.
